Topic
A series of space illustrations for an article on the theory that large alien structures, that absorb the energy of a star, could indicate the existence of alien intelligence. Created for the German edition of the New Scientist.

Description
The illustrations show four variants of the theoretical structures. Their design is based on ideas developed by the physicist Freeman Dyson in the 1960s. The first two structures show variations of the so-called Dyson spheres, a swarm of planet-sized solar collectors and a ring that encompasses a star. The illustrations below show other possible structures, a large monolith and a sun sail.
